Site Selection and Soil Preparation

Blueberries demand acidic soil with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5. They need soil that drains well but retains moisture. To prepare the site, integrate sphagnum peat with your existing soil at a 1:1 ratio, ensuring the soil remains acidic and rich. If your soil is on the higher pH end, additional sphagnum and sulfur may be necessary to create the perfect growing environment.

Planting Instructions

For container planting, choose a large pot, ideally 18" wide, with proper drainage to prevent waterlogging. Plant the bush at the same soil level as the container it came in, avoiding burying the crown. Spread the roots gently and ensure the soil covers them adequately.

For garden planting, select an open area with ample sunlight. Dig a hole 2-3 times wider and slightly deeper than the pot the blueberry comes in. Pruning and Maintenance

Pruning is not immediately necessary for young Climax Blueberries. As they grow, focus on removing dead, diseased, or old growth to foster a healthy, open bush structure. Remember to prune only during dormancy, except for removing dead or diseased branches, which can be done anytime.
