Showy Lanterns Enkianthus is a vigorous deciduous shrub with an upright habit and layered branching. The glossy green leaves turn shades bright scarlet in fall. Hanging clusters of fragrant rich pink bell-like flowers bloom in early spring. Thrives in part sun and rich, moist, well-drained acidic soils. Does well with clay soils, but will suffer in drought.
