Mountain Fire Pieris

Mountain Fire Pieris is a spreading evergreen shrub with glossy deep green foliage that emerges fiery red.  Profuse drooping clusters of dangling clear white bell-like flowers bloom on red flowering stems in spring.  Best bloom in part sun with slightly acidic and moist well-drained soils. 

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: High Maintenance.  Water regularly. Remove spent flowers immediately.  Lace bug infections can be a serious problem. Watch for scale, mites, and nematodes.  Dieback and leaf spots are occasional problems.

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Woodland Gardens, Wildlife Gardens, Foundation Plantings, and Containers.

COMPANION PLANTS:   Rhododendron, Azalea, Camellia
